Fair room assignments and inspections that hold every room to your standard

Assign rooms by your hotel’s workload credits, inspect them against your written standards and release each room when it passes. Credits measure workload and inspection scores measure quality; the two are kept separate.

The problem

Who cleans what, and who checks it?

Rooms are handed out by habit, some attendants carry more than they can finish, and the standard being inspected lives in someone’s head. A room is called ready before anyone has checked it against anything.

A typical moment

“I gave her 18 rooms because that is what she always gets. I didn’t know she was already over her limit.”

Where housekeeping planning breaks down

  • Rooms are handed out by habit, and some attendants carry more than they can finish.

In HTMS™ The Day board plans rooms against each person’s credits and shows the reason beside each room, so work is moved before the shift starts.

  • The standard being inspected lives in someone’s head.

In HTMS™ Inspections run against the hotel’s own written checklist, so every room is checked against the same standard.

  • A room is called ready before anyone has checked it.

In HTMS™ A room is released only on confirmation, and a failed inspection opens corrective work and keeps the room held.

From dirty room to confirmed ready

  1. Set credits

The hotel sets what each clean is worth in credits and a target for each person.

  2. Plan the day

The Day board plans rooms against each person’s load, flags overload and gives the reason for every room. A supervisor can change any assignment.

  3. Inspect

Weighted checklists carry critical and mandatory items. A failed inspection opens corrective work; a person confirms a pass before release.

  4. Hold to standards

Hotels write standards at brand, hotel, department, room-type and procedure level, keep every version and audit against them. They are kept in IT Governance.

The day’s plan and each person’s progress

Supervisors plan the day and see how the team is doing. Each person sees their own.

Day board and credits

Supervisors see each housekeeper’s planned, done and earned credits against their own target, get a reasoned plan for unassigned rooms and publish the daily board. The hotel sets what each clean is worth. Credits measure workload, not pay.

My progress and team performance

Each person sees their own credits, rooms cleaned and inspection results with the evidence behind them. Supervisors review the team’s measures, assign training and give recognition. There is no ranking, and nothing links to pay.

Planning the day in a 90-room hotel

A realistic scenario
The executive housekeeper opens the Day board and sees one attendant already over her target, with the reason beside each room. She moves a few rooms to a colleague and publishes the board. Later a failed inspection opens corrective work and the room stays held.
